Indigenous Peoples x Slow Food : Transmitting Wisdom to the Next Generation ONLINE WORKSHOP

先住民×スローフード 次世代に叡智を繋ぐONLINE Work Shop

This endeavor was carried out with the two goals. One is to integrate IPs’ wisdom with Slow Food philosophy to promote a common understanding that traditional diets, as well as local community food culture, could play an essential role in addressing social issues. The second goal is to transmit this lesson forward to the next generation.

【Year 1】

Workshops and virtual field trips were organized to stimulate mutual learning among IPs in Asia Pacific region. A Yanbaru member of Slow Food Ryukyus introduced Sabani and the pork-eating customs of the Ryukyus.

【Year 2】

Virtually presented a traditional meal named “Stew of Ffumami (black azuki beans) with papaya and kelp” in a kamado using firewood, under the instruction of a member on Miyako Island

【Year 3】

We gathered in Terra Madre 2022 with the Asia Pacific network members. Through in-person interactions,we reaffirmed and strengthened our commitment to passing on our learnings to the next generation.
